Taxonomy and Keyword Assignment

Properly indexed service directories streamline information retrieval, enhance data reliability, ensure consistent evaluations, and enable regional and national data aggregation and comparison.

Indexing taxonomy, keywords, or categories to a service directory is an applied art. Likewise, changing from one taxonomy system to another or cross referencing them takes time, foresite, and understanding. But it takes the ability to apply the rules uniformly, consistently, and accurately to get there.

DGI Can Help

  • Apply taxonomy or keywords to services across service directories
  • Audit or clean up services to identify improper indexing such as double or horizontal indexing, or improper use of taxonomy or key words
  • Write, advise on, or update taxonomy, keyword, or target term use policies
  • Create or advise on taxonomy customizations to better support a service directory and service classification and retrieval
  • Convert or cross reference between a custom keyword system to the 211 HSIS taxonomy, or other classification system
  • Train new data curators or community navigation/resource specialists on the 211 HSIS taxonomy as it applies to their roles
